Day 2

Well we made it to our destination. It is crazy hot and humid and I am feeling pretty worn out. Before we left there was a lot of planning in order to get everyone where they were supposed to be. My wonderful parents were so generous in taking us all out for supper (Blake, Jacquelyn, David, Angela and I)and then we were off!

The plane ride was pretty enjoyable as far as plane rides go, we had some extra seats around us, so Angela and I got to lie down and stretch our legs during the flight which was nice. Blake needs a few more seats in order to do that! The flight from Vancouver to Manila was about 14 hours

We arrived in Manila at 4:30ish their time and then had to sit around in another airport for 5 hours until we could fly to Davao. The second flight was just 1 hour and 35 minutes...which is a familiar traveling time to us islanders!

Davao reminds me a lot of India just with the smells and sounds, although here I think they don't stare at me as much...I think because they are too busy looking at the GIANT white man walking beside me! When we were picking up our luggage Blake was the tallest by far. Everyone was standing well below his shoulders. At least I won't lose him very easily!

Jenna gave us a pep talk about the culture here which was really nice. It is super embarrassing when you do something that is not really appropriate and you have no idea that you are doing it!

I am really excited to be traveling with Blake, it is a real treat to be able to do this with my best friend. I am hoping that tomorrow I feel better and more adventurous. Right now I think I am pretty worn out. I woke up this morning and couldn't fall back asleep at around 4:30 or 5:00.

I think we are going to go to the market today, buy some fruit and veggies to eat...YUM! It was so sweet, Jenna and Michaela met us at the airport with fresh pineapple and mangoes....SO GOOD!!!

Well, until next time...
